Hot Springs Village Animal Welfare League

Hot Springs Village Animal Welfare League

Help Us Help Them!

We are an all-volunteer, no-kill 501(c)(3) nonprofit group that partners with the POA Animal Control to rescue, vet, and find homes for ALL adoptable cats and dogs.

About the Hot Springs Animal Welfare League

Our mission is to place all rescued and surrendered adoptable pets into loving homes and to prevent the overpopulation of unwanted animals.

Started in 1991 by a group of HSV residents who raised funds to help the POA Animal Control, we have grown into a vibrant nonprofit rescue group dedicated to help homeless animals in need of care and companionship.

We depend solely upon donations, memberships, grants, small adoption fees, and fundraising events to support the programs that help our homeless cats and dogs find homes.

The AWL has no paid employees, and receives no financial support from the HSVPOA or any other government entity.

Save Lives

The AWL routinely cares for over 550 cats and dogs every year at our shelter, and even more through our Foster Parent Program.  Most are adopted from the AWL, while others are transferred to a partner rescue through our Help Us Go (HUG) program.  Our Looking Ahead For Pets (LAP) program assists HSV residents who must find a new home for their beloved pet.

Veterinary Care

To prepare pets for adoption and often a better quality of life, we fund comprehensive exams, testing, sterilizations, treatments, microchipping, recommended vaccinations, plus preventative care and medications.  Pet health is monitored daily and any health issues are treated immediately.

Spay/Neuter

The AWL has provided thousands of cats and dogs with reduced or no cost sterilization programs for low income area families.  These two-day clinics take place throughout the year in surrounding locations.  We also provide sterilization vouchers for pets and ferals.

Education

To increase children's awareness of humane animal care, the AWL provides three area elementary schools with books, materials, and classroom presentations.

Volunteer Your Expertise

Volunteers are vital to our success and crucial for the care of the animals until they find their "forever" home.  At the Adoption Center, Volunteers serve as Dog Walkers, Cat Cuddlers, Animal Care Workers and in Guest Relations.  Our volunteer foster parents care for adoptable pets, including kittens and puppies, in their homes.  Volunteers are also needed to assist with event planning and fundraising, spay/neuter clinics, recycling, computer support, and donor liaisons.

Shop Online

When you shop online through Amazon Smile and iGive, a portion of the proceeds benefit AWL if you select us as the charity of your choice.  Kroger's Community Rewards Program donates money to us once you link your Kroger Plus card to the AWL (34048).  We also recycle inkjet cartridges and aluminum cans.  The AWL also benefits when you use the ResQwalk app.

Giving Opportunities

Memorials, legacy gifts, and sponsorships are just a few other ways you can help support the AWL.  Please visit our website hsvawl.org for more information.

Become a Member

Help us feed and care for the homeless pets as they look for a "forever" home.  Membership remains one of our highest revenue sources and we thank the hundreds of members who support us.

Annual Membership Fees are a nominal $25 per individual; $35 per family; and $50 per Patron/Corporate/Business.

Members receive our monthly Rescue Report newsletter to keep them informed of our news and successes.  To join the AWL, visit hsvawl.org/memberships or visit the adoption center.
